This program was created to help subject-matter experts turn their knowledge into engaging online courses.
Audience: Professionals and SMEs preparing to deliver training in eLearning formats
Responsibilities: Instructional design, content development
Tools: Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Illustrator, PowToon
The company set out to elevate the quality and impact of its eLearning programs. They wanted training to be more relevant to on-the-job performance and better aligned with organizational goals. Additionally, they aimed to engage internal experts across departments to provide content, while ensuring that all training efforts could be tracked and measured for effectiveness.
After understanding the company’s vision and assessing their current training practices, we developed a set of action steps to bridge the gap:
Designed a process to train internal experts on instructional best practices and course structure.
Introduced engaging formats such as short videos, real-world scenarios, and quick checks for understanding, while also using this as an opportunity to explore and better understand the capabilities of Rise 360.
Development Process
To ensure consistency across the company’s future eLearning offerings, I created a simple guide to help internal experts structure their ideas into digestible content. This included examples, question prompts, and planning templates to help them think like instructional designers.
To align the vision for scalable and effective online learning, I developed a framework that would serve as the foundation for all future course design within the company: The 4 Gears of Effective Learning Assembly. This simple yet powerful model helped guide the structure, tone, and purpose of the course.
Using this framework, I designed a branded Rise 360 course that included short videos, scenario-based learning, and interactive checkpoints. A working prototype was shared for feedback and tested with a pilot group, ultimately serving as both a training and a proof of concept for the company’s future eLearning initiatives.
After refining the structure, I supported the company’s internal teams during their first course builds. I provided asynchronous feedback and optional live check-ins to review instructional flow, engagement opportunities, and alignment with company goals. The first finalized courses were ready to launch with measurable outcomes built in.
This project helped shift the mindset around online course creation—from overwhelming to achievable. Experts discovered they could rely on the instructional design team to provide the structure and tools needed to design engaging, effective content. The interactive examples reinforced how learning principles can be applied to real-world scenarios, setting a strong foundation for future course development.
